Our software will use
commercially available speech recognition software to capture the voice
input of a teacher or presenter, and - with minimal delay - display
sign language to the user on the screen. This will have three
applications; as a laptop classroom tool for individual students, as a
tutoring tool for students wishing to learn Signed English (the form of
Sign Language which has the same grammar structure as spoken English),
and to be used to display sign language interpretation on a projector
screen.
